Sample images from the Panasonic Lumix G 25mm f/1.7 ASPH

Spent a little while last night playing with the new lens, (see GH2 – lens for my excitement…). Here are some quick sample images:

These were all taken in low light, so using the fully open f1.7 setting. I’ll post more when I’ve had a chance to use it in earnest!

GH2 – lens

I’ve owned a Panasonic GH2 for a few years now. I  bought it initially to shoot video, as it’s great for video, but it’s also a fantastic stills camera. I’ll be honest, though, I don’t put it through its paces as much as I should; it’s only recently that I’ve started to take it on short-haul trips – the kind where there isn’t much space in your luggage – and I wish I had done this sooner. I used to use the XZ-2 for these trips, but now I’m leaving it at home in favour of the GH2.

Oly lens – pain!

Much as I love it, though, I could never afford to splash out on any of the official lenses, instead making do with the stock lens and an old Olympus 50mm manual lens (you can pick them, and an adapter ring off eBay for a few quid…) This lens was actually great for portraits, but, boy was it a pain to use. Heavy. Manual focus. Fun, but a pain.

Now that lens went down to f1.8, which meant I could get pretty good interior shots. But now I am excited; I’ve just bought a ‘proper’ lens, a 25mm f1.7 Panasonic. Am looking forward to trying it out soon.
